More about INDANI and the people behind it

Indani Estates began as a long-held dream of its founders: A vision to bring structure, design intelligence, and integrity to Rwanda’s growing real estate landscape. Built from years of experience across hospitality, property management, and design, Indani is a realization of a shared belief that spaces, when created and managed with purpose, can shape how people live and connect.

Guillaume Sardin

Guillaume Sardin is a French architect and artist whose work bridges Europe and Africa. A graduate of the École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Nantes, he moved to Rwanda in the 2010s to lecture at the University of Rwanda, where he developed a new, locally grounded architecture curriculum.
His teaching focused on Rwandan ways of living and thinking – encouraging students to design with context, culture, and local materials at the core of their practice.

Alongside his academic work, Guillaume explored his artistic expression through painting. One of his pieces has since been included in the National Art Collection of Rwanda, a recognition of his deep connection to the country’s creative landscape.

In Paris, Guillaume worked with several leading international design studios, including Juan Pablo Molyneux, Gilles & Boissier, and Bruno Moinard, and collaborated with prestigious brands such as LVMH, Ruinart, Le Bristol Paris, Accor Group, and Vacheron Constantin.

Today, as Head of Architectural Design at Indani Estates, Guillaume leads the creative direction and architectural concepts for the company’s residential, commercial, and hospitality projects. His role focuses on aligning design integrity with market strategy to ensure every Indani development is both practical and timeless. He works closely with clients, developers, and Indani’s management team to translate vision into well-crafted, buildable spaces that reflect Rwanda’s evolving identity in design and real estate.

His architectural voice has earned recognition on a global scale. He was selected by Design Indaba in Cape Town as an Emerging African Voice, exhibiting alongside Francis Kéré with a housing concept inspired by traditional Rwandan compounds (rugo). He later presented his research on Rwandan culture in Kyoto, at the invitation of the Rwandan Ambassador, and led a cultural and historical architecture tour of Kigali during the African CEO Forum. In 2025, Guillaume is scheduled to speak at the World Economic Forum, where he will share how his years in Rwanda shaped his architectural vision.

For Guillaume, architecture is a dialogue with people, with the land, and with nature. His decade in Rwanda has deeply influenced his approach, inspiring a modern yet rooted design philosophy that combines local materials with thoughtful craftsmanship and bespoke furniture.
